WHAT WE DO

At Mark Butterfield Furniture, we take pride in designing, crafting and installing exquisite bespoke kitchens and other rooms of furniture from our 100% renewable powered workshop on the Somerset and Devon border.

Why Choose
Mark Butterfield Furniture?

Uncompromising quality

At Mark Butterfield Furniture, the way we do things is a little different. While most companies make a number of ‘units’ or ‘boxes’ to fit together to form your furniture, we will make your dresser base, sink run, island unit or whatever the item of furniture, as a single piece.  By doing this, we can make the furniture to whatever size best meets your requirements and fits your room. Making furniture as single pieces means we don’t waste space with double carcussing between each ‘unit’, or have to use ‘fillers’ at the end of runs, so you get a truly purpose-built, better-quality piece, which makes more use of your space and is built to last.

British craftsmanship

Each individual component of a Mark Butterfield room of furniture is constructed by our highly skilled, experienced makers. Guided by years of experience and precise attention to detail, we combine our traditional handmade cabinet making skills and techniques with the latest technology, allowing us to design furniture to traditional high-quality standards, but for todays’ designs and requirements.

The sustainable option

We have always done our best to recommend the most suitable top-quality energy-saving appliances and use green-sourced materials including timber from sources carrying the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification, which demands the highest social and environmental requirements in the forestry sector.   We are now however pleased to be able to source more and more British Timber from carefully managed woodlands, most of which are within a 15-mile radius from our renewable powered workshop.

Because we have our own wood mill and kiln, we are able to mill, season and kiln dry the locally sourced wood on-site ourselves, reducing transportation, before using the carbon captured solid wood in our furniture production, which dramatically reduces our company’s carbon footprint.

We believe however that the very best way we can ‘go green,’ is to create furniture that is built to last and that you and future generations will enjoy living with. Durability and longevity are a major part of sustainability. By providing you with high quality handcrafted furniture built to timeless designs which will not require replacement for many, many years, we hope all our furniture happily reaches antique status!

Making it personal

We are passionate about what we do and Mark Butterfield is always personally involved from the initial visit, through the design, production and installation to completion. We believe it’s important for our clients to have the same point of contact every step of the way, and open communication throughout.

Choices are unlimited when it comes to creating the design for your furniture, but they don’t have to be daunting. You might have a particular look, period or style, which you would like us to take inspiration from, or an independent designer you are working with.  If you really don’t have any ideas, we can help. We will consult with you and /or your designer to produce something really special which works for you. There are no restrictions on colour schemes, shapes or sizes either, as everything is hand-made and hand painted, we really can make whatever you want to whatever shade, shape, size or style desired.

The full service

As well as providing you with the highest quality bespoke furniture. We can also guide you through and supply a multitude of solid work surfaces, flooring and the most appropriate kitchen technology to suit your lifestyle. We are also happy to recommend, coordinate and work with electricians, plumbers and any other professionals required.
