Let there be lights – In the dishwasher! There are two main types of lights with a dishwasher, the ones that light up the inside, and the ones that tell you something on the outside. The Siemens range of dishwashers have three different lights:
EmotionLight
The ‘emotionLight’ uses LED lights to create a cool blue glow emanating from inside your dishwasher. This does look good but I must admit when I first had a dishwasher with this light, I thought it was no more than a gimmick. However, I’ve come to think this ‘emotion’ light is actually designed to do something really special, it simply makes you feel happier! For instance :-
- Much like having a light come on when you open the fridge, it somehow just feels satisfyingly right to have a light come on when you open the dishwasher!
- You can find that special mug or extra long spoon you really want to use when its hiding in the back of the dishwasher but you don’t want to disturb anyone by putting the main light on.
- When the dishwasher has finished, the bright blue light makes all your dishes look extra sparkly and clean.
- When the programme has finished but someone has puts a dirty item in with all the clean dishes (I’m hoping I haven’t got the only family in the world that does this), it jumps out at you with the LED lighting almost pointing and shouting ‘This one’s unclean!’
InfoLight
The infoLight projects a beam of light onto the floor to show the dishwasher is running. If you have a very old dishwasher or one with a high db rating, you will no doubt be able to hear it operating. But for the newer machines with a noise rating of 44bd or lower, this is really quite a useful function.
TimeLight
Even more useful than the infoLight, is one of my most favourite dishwasher functions ever, the timeLight. This function projects the remaining time the programme has left before it finishes, together with a notification of what stage the programme is on, directly onto any colour, and any surface floor. What could be any more useful? Well perhaps it could send you a text when the programme finishes, but wait, the wi-fi enabled dishwashers have an app for that!
