Wood Kitchen

This hand built, bespoke Oak kitchen / dining room provides a modern addition to a Dorset country home. Whilst the design has been kept simple and angular to fit into the modern extension, the use of earthy colours and natural materials such as the Oak cabinetry and solid granite worktops, splash back, up-stands and window sill, help give the room a relaxed natural feel. The open plan room is bathed in light with bi-fold doors running almost the entire length.  The glass doors open out onto an extensive patio area with garden and countryside beyond.  The same natural slate flooring flowing through the kitchen, dining area and patio helps to create one seamless feeling inside-out space.

Within this room the main kitchen working area is at one end, with the traditional country-cottage style range cooker nestled beneath a scalloped and beaded Oak Mantle that really shows the beauty of the wood.  Either side of the range cooker, sets of neat little wood-on-wood drawers have been crafted. This is a traditional storage design perfect for storing smaller kitchen items such as matches and utensils. A simple but stunning knife rack consisting of one large magnet covered with a thin layer of Oak veneer has been mounted on the wall as a decorative but functional piece.

At the far end of the kitchen, the Oak cabinetry joins the Range Cooker to a large barn door style stainless steel fridge with ice dispenser and freezer drawers below.

Forming the centerpiece of this kitchen / diner is a double sided run of units designed and made to act as an angled peninsular.  The peninsular contains a Kohler Ice Rock 1½ bowl sink as well as an integrated dishwasher, additional spaces for sockets,  numerous drawers and cupboards.  It acts as a great kitchen work area, but doubles as a functional serving/bar area to both the dining area and garden.  A real party peninsular!

At the far end of the room, beyond the dining table, an Oak dresser base has been placed to provide additional storage for dining items and tie the two ends of the room together, continuing the theme of one large room.
